A unique place for tasting tradition and sophisticated flavours of supreme delicacies

The Motovun forest stretches in the very heart of Istria, along the valley of the Mirna river underneath the town of Motovun. This luscious forest area hides one of the most precious fruits of the land – a truffle. Every autumn a unique 10 weekend event, ‘Days of Zigante Truffles’, is organized in Livade. It gathers numerous guests from Croatia and all parts of the world only to taste this supreme gourmet specialty as well as other exceptional flavours of Istrian delicacies.

This event made the village of Livade known as the center of the Istrian truffle, and the rich program of “Zigante Truffle Days” includes truffle fair, an international exhibition of wine and other indigenous Istrian products (such as Istrian prosciutto, sausage, cheese, honey, olive oil, schnapps…), culinary workshops, demonstrations of truffle hunting in the forest, and various tastings during which guests can try culinary specialties made with truffles presented by well-known chefs.
